Frequently asked questions

What grades do you offer?
TKLA offers a continuous education from Grade RRR through to Grade 12, across our Pre-Primary (Grade RRR–R), Primary (Grade 1–6) and High School (Grade 7–12) phases. Age cut-offs apply for each phase entry. Contact our admissions team to confirm your child’s eligibility.
What documents do I need?
Please have the following ready when submitting your application:
  • Copy of birth certificate / ID document
  • Copy of study permit / refugee permit (if foreign)
  • Copy of learner’s latest progress report (Grade 1–7)
  • Copy of parents / legal guardian’s ID document
  • Copy of responsible person’s ID document
  • Transfer document (once available)
  • Copy of vaccination record (Pre-Primary & Foundation Phase)
  • Copy of Medical Aid card (front and back)
  • Latest month’s proof of household income / salary advice
  • Water & lights account (latest) or proof of residence
  • 3 months’ bank statements
  • Two recent colour photos of the learner (ID size)
How long does the application process take?
Typically 2–3 weeks from application to offer, subject to availability. We recommend applying early for your preferred start year as popular grades fill up quickly.
Is there a waiting list?
Some grades fill up early in the year. If your preferred grade is at capacity, we’ll add your child to our waiting list and contact you as soon as a space becomes available. We recommend applying early for your preferred start year.
When are fees due?

Are you accredited?
Yes. TKLA is UMALUSI-accredited (No: 17 SCH01 00332) and registered with the Gauteng Department of Education. Our curriculum follows the national CAPS framework.

What language is teaching done in?
TKLA is an English-medium school. English is the primary language of instruction across all phases, from Pre-Primary through to Grade 12.
What sport and culture activities are available?
TKLA offers a full programme of sport and culture activities. Sport includes athletics, netball, soccer, volleyball and chess. On the culture side, learners can participate in choir, drama, art and debate, with events such as Matric Farewell and Honours Evening throughout the year. See our Campus Life page for more.
