About us

TKLA is a combined school in Tembisa for learners from Grade 00 to Grade 12.

We embrace a Christian philosophy and values, striving to educate the individual holistically within his/her natural abilities in preparation for a first-world country.

TKLA values integrity and our educators endeavour to imprint this inclusive value on the minds and lives of our learners.

With the joint effort of committed parents, dedicated educators and inspired learners, we are proud of the quality of matriculants who leave our school gates.

TKLA is a full member of Umalusi and the Gauteng Department of Education.

Enrichment Subjects

We continuously strive to ensure that our learners are afforded every opportunity for further enrichment beyond the standard curriculum.

All learners from Grade R to Grade 9 attend computer maths classes.

All learners from Grade 4 to Grade 9 attend computer literacy classes as well as a language enrichment programme.

Chess is taught as a school subject from Grades 4 to 6 and learners take part in our Lego programme in Technology from Grades R to 6.

In all our programmes we make learners aware of challenges facing our world, and the possible solutions to our challenges. In this way, we address basic conditions of the hidden curriculum, such as responsibility, integrity, providing for ourselves, entrepreneurial skills, and basic skills of survival in a modern world. All this, together with an understanding that we must do all this with a purpose of uplifting the community in which we exist, makes all our attempts a contribution towards creating a better South-Africa.

Extramural Activities

All learners from Grades 4 to 10 are encouraged to participate in an activity of his/her choice – including chess, drama, art and choir, to name a few – every week after school.

Our Lego Club learners participate in the national competition each year with great success.  The competition entails research on a specific theme as well as the building of a robot which must carry out various tasks.

Our drama, choir and debating associations are hugely popular and our learners do very well in various competitions.
